Flight to Athens
The most common way to get to Milos is via Athens. Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport has excellent intra-European connections and flights to Athens are offered several times a day from many European airports. For example, depending on the season, there are up to six non-stop flights daily from Frankfurt am Main.
Lufthansa currently offers the most frequent flight connections from Germany. Flexible rebooking options, even for low-cost fares, give great security in the current situation if travel plans change spontaneously.
Eleftherios Venizelos Airport
I find the stay at Athens airport very pleasant. It is modern, bright and clean, clearly laid out with good signage and has a wide range of shops and culinary offers. An absolute must during a short stopover at the airport before the onward flight to Milos is to enjoy the first frappé or Freddo espresso on Greek soil outside the airport terminal. It's usually sunnier and definitely warmer than where you come from, and somehow brings that first holiday feeling. Due to the airport's location far outside the city of Athens, the air is not as bad as you might think. It is often breezy and the wind blows the first typical scent of the countryside and the sea across your nose.
Transfer from the airport
Where are the taxi rank, bus stop, metro station and car rental agencies?
In case you want to continue your journey by ferry or have planned a short stay in Athens, all means of transport are conveniently located in the immediate vicinity in front of the airport building, at ground level on the arrivals floor: The taxi rank, from where transfers to the city centre are offered at a fixed price. The bus stop for the express buses X95 to Syntagma Square and X96 to the port of Piraeus. And the car rental agencies with their counters inside the terminal and rental car parking spaces just a few steps away from the terminal. Also, the line 3 metro station is quickly reached via the pedestrian bridge.
