Place where the Aphrodite of Milos was found

("Venus de Milo")

A dirt track on the right hand side leads to the Ancient Theatre from the road to the catacombs. If you follow this track, you pass the place where the statue of Aphrodite, which achieved global fame as the “Venus de Milo” was discovered. A signpost on the track above clearly points to the location. If you climb down the slope here via a few rocky steps, you will find a marble slab set in a dry stone wall that marks the exact spot of the find.

There is a separate section on the turbulent history of the Aphrodite of Milos.
